All-Star Baseball Classic

The Community All Star Baseball Tournament, held on May 19, 2018 from 3-5pm at Southland Field in Houma, is an annual competition between “the best” high school baseball players from Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes. The event was the concept of Stan Gravois of the TGMC Healthy Life Styles Center.

It strengthens the image of promoting healthy activities in young people and is eagerly anticipated by the young athletes from both parishes. The winning team may take pride in their victory, but the other team members may also take pride in knowing that they are the best in their home parish. Fellow team mates, parents, friends of the players and possible college recruiters make up the audience which is normally close to 300 spectators.

The tournament has never been held to be a fund-generator for the Foundation, but more to support the TGMC Healthy Life Styles Center in promoting good health for our young people.

Super Cooper 5k

The Super Cooper 5k is an annual family-friends run/walk for people of all fitness levels. The event takes place every March at Pinocchio’s Pizza Playhouse in Houma, and raises vital funds for the Cooper Life Fund benefiting the TGMC NICU. Since the event was created 12 years ago, the fund has raised over $143,000, providing medical and social care for over 1,900 TGMC NICU families.

The Cooper Life Fund was created by John and Ashley Fontenot after their son, Cooper, was born with a heart defect. Cooper underwent numerous surgeries and hospital visits during the first year of his life. As the Fontenot’s frequented hospitals, they launched the Super Cooper Life Fund to assist others in need of assistance.
